Humility is the path to Victory!

Have you ever read about the power of humility?

Proverbs 15:33 NIV

Wisdom’s instruction, is to fear the Lord , and humility comes before honor.

Did you ever wonder, why Jesus the King of all Kings came into a modest family such as Joseph and Mary when he could have chosen to be a Prince in a castle?

Did you ever read this verse:

Matthew 8:20 NIV

Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

God is saying he was himself a homeless nomad, going from one city to the next with no home of his own, why?

Because he knew how powerful he was, he  wanted to ensure nobody felt intimidated, rather, he wanted everyone to feel comfortable to approach him, he wanted to be accessible.

Jesus's greatest quality, was humility.

Well let me teach you today a lesson about the power of humility.

In the verse above proverbs 15:33

Part 1:Wisdom’s instruction, is to fear the Lord

In the first part of this verse, God tells us that we must be smart and wise and the way to do so is that in our reverence, respect and fear of God's authority and sovereignty over us, we will be careful in how we live our life that is , all our interests, what we read, where we go, how we speak, our sense of humor, how we treat others, how we take care of our own selves, how we dress, how we deal with challenges, how we think and how we manage our time as well as, how we prioritize ,everything in life.

The values we portray, must reflect an obedience in which the goal is to be attentive to what God expects from us and all these expectations can be found in the bible.

Part 2, and humility comes before honor.

In the second part of this verse, God is showing us that the blessing, the victory, the breakthrough and the answered prayer is conditional to our behaviour that is to be humble.

How does the dictionary describes humility?

Humility:

Humility is the quality of being humble and means putting the needs of another person before your own, and thinking of others before yourself. It also means not drawing attention to yourself, and it can mean acknowledging that you are not always right.

What does the bible say about humility?

Proverbs 27:2 NIV Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips.

In other words, someone should compliment  you and someone else shall  describe you as : smart, talented, courageous ,brave, reliable and beautiful.

Bragging is not a humble behaviour.

Ephesians 4:2 NIV

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Which means, we should do our best to have compassion, make extraordinary efforts to help and be nice with others, encourage others and never belittle others nor make anyone feel, inferior.

We must participate in building  the confidence and self-esteem of others.

Philippians 2:3 NIV

Do nothing, out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility ,value others above yourselves,

Part 1: Do nothing ,out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.

Which means ,don't help anyone with plans of getting something in return.  For example, giving money to a homeless person , taking a picture and publishing the picture in social medias is not a humble act , the donation shall be done secretly with only the intent to help.

Part 2:Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,

When you are in a position of power let  anyone beneath you, feel that you are not above them, for example , you are a teacher ,a student tells you he did not understand the lesson and will never be able to succeed, tell him you are sorry you are the one that did not well explain and propose to  try again together, talk about how at your age, It was not easy either but with patience and studying you understood.

This is why Jesus washed his disciples feet and told them to do the same he was portraying humility.

When you do this ,  you give room for God to have the glory through you and he then trust you to take a position of honor.

King Saul was replaced by King David because of his lack of humility and disobedience.

You can read the story in the Bible starting at 1 Samuel 15.

In this story God removes a blessing due to lack of humility since Saul did not leave room for God to be glorified he no longer deserved the honor God had previously given.

Have you lost great blessings? lost businesses, money, freedom, benefits, opportunities, relationships, friends ect...

You may need to embrace humility.

I myself after attending University ,enjoyed a very successful career which brought me great wealth, a beachfront house, luxurious cars and credit cards I could swipe with no limits , and surprisingly, one day, my empire collapsed because God wanted me to learn humility.

I lost everything I earned in the blink of an eye.

Then friends, family members and co-workers disappeared one by one.

Although it showed me people true colors it also showed me my own true colours.

It took 6 years to get back on my feet, but after this, God made me a teacher of his word , 2 years after my fall, I was invited to a TV show in Europe for which you see my picture above and below.

I always dreamed to be on TV but first God dreamed of seeing me practicing humility.

My life now is much better than before my great fall, since now, I understand the power of humility, and in your darkest hour ,when there is no one to be found,God will be by your side ready to lift you up.

Today, I encourage you to learn from my testimony and from the verses above.

Before you reach your goal ,whichever it may be, you first learn and apply humility in which lies the key to success.
